SeaPort-e

The Navy Systems Commands (NAVSEA, NAVAIR, SPAWAR, NAVFAC, and NAVSUP), the Office of Naval Research, the United States Marine Corps, and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) compete their service requirements among 1800+ SeaPort-e IDIQ multiple award contract holders. The SeaPort-e portal provides a standardized, efficient means of soliciting offers from the diverse population of large and small businesses and their approved team members. All task orders are competitively solicited, awarded, and managed using the SeaPort-e platform. Since nearly 85% of its contract–holders are small businesses, the SeaPort-e approach to acquiring services provides opportunity that fuels the nation’s engine of job growth.

ASTRA Capabilities

ASTRA is the only Prime contractor for contract N0017816D8585. We are servicing Zone 2 and Zone 6.

Our science and engineering teams exceed our customers’ expectation with experience spanning decades and multiple disciplines. With expertise in many aspects of space physics and aerospace engineering, we support our customers’ objectives with rigorous mission and system engineering design, implementation, and validation processes utilizing the latest in engineering design and analysis tools, including structural and electrical CAD software. We perform complex projects using documentation revision and configuration management control tools as well as adhering to strict quality assurance standards in both design and qualification of hardware and software products.

ASTRA Quality Assurance

ASTRA follows internal Quality Assurance and Control procedures commensurate with the desired outcome or end result of specific projects (Project Management and cost control) with the end result being to exceed our customer’s expectations. Quality process requirements and standards include concerns for Workforce Safety, Product Quality (instrument design and development) and Process Quality (e.g., CubeSat system design and integration).

As instrumentation (product) is developed, validated, and commercialized, initial batch scale manufacturing processes are developed through an iterative process; including establishing process metrics and analyzing the data to continually improve the processes. Quality is assessed continuously throughout every step of the process. QA/QC manuals are then developed by product category. Quality Control limits are performance-based standards developed for a particular product performance criteria where Critical-To-Quality (CTQ) components are identified, inspected, and tested prior to acceptance and/or assembly. Corresponding records are tracked and saved for 3-7 years depending on customer and/or risk requirements. Corrective actions are taken on a case-by-case basis utilizing standard quality methodologies to identify root cause of defect. This applies to both project and product processes.

ASTRA’s Quality Managers have significant background in QA/QC including MSQ and ISO training, metrics and process development, and implementation of programs.

ASTRA defines quality as meeting or exceeding our customers’ expectations. We believe that quality should be managed, and thus our approach to client assignments includes steps that will ensure that we meet or exceed our customer’s expectations. For every assignment we start with understanding the client’s situation, our role, and the ultimate product. Quality is assessed continuously throughout every step of the project.
